In the absence of any new theories I present this rehash, may be with a new twist, for your amusement:
Background:
The island was originally part of the cold war era mutual annihilation
defense system. The intention of the site was to enhance the nuclear submarine
fleet as a deterrent against a catastrophic enemy first strike. The government
chose an unknown island in the general area of nuclear test sites occurring
in the post WWII era in the Pacific Ocean to keep the activities secret.
It was set-up along the lines of the "Philadelphia Experiment" principles
except it involves a series of offensive weapons, mainly missile silos
and biological agents, and advanced defensive methods, mainly stealth
and intrusion detection. While the offensive part of the technology was
the typical nuclear arsenal and bio-chemical substances, it possessed
the most advanced in stealth technology, which involved the redirection
(bending) of electromagnetic waves (including light), like Pinnerman's
"Philadelphia Experiment" ideas, making it virtually invisible. It also
possessed a form of intrusion defense which involved detection and interpretation
of electromagnetic radiation emanating from the brain, like the thought
police in "1941", kind of a wireless lie detector. This system was installed
for internal security reasons as well as detection of outside compromises
such as espionage. The operations in the island are operated and controlled
by a central computer that I will refer to as "the island". The intension
was for the installation to be self-sufficient and controlled by the artificial
intelligence (AI) of "the island". The operations were to be started remotely
since nobody could depart the island while the stealth field was active.
While the site was being prepared for activation, there was an accident
with leakage of some of the bio/nuclear agents and a subsequent malfunction
of "the island". Most of the occupants of the site were killed, severely
injured or deformed. "Adam and Eve" were two that managed to escape and
take with them the valuable stones, only to perish later at the cave.
Before they met their unfortunate fate, they were able to activate the
catastrophic emergency broadcast "4 8 15 16 23 42". Coincident with these
events in the same area was a French scientific expedition that was drawn
to the site by the transmission; their fate was similar to the original
occupants. The malfunctioning island was awaiting a response from the
emergency transmission when Danielle altered it which caused the island
to go into heightened emergency mode and activated it's stealth field
and the retaliation attack system.
The Mission:
It is the mission of our LOSTaways to stop the activities of the island
before it takes its designed action, Armageddon. The LOSTaways are a mix
of genetically altered android type beings, similar to an advanced "Manchurian
Candidate", but specially designed/enhanced for government espionage
and special activities. The LOSTaways are programmed and unconsciously
directed to perform activities without their conscious knowledge. This
is essential for this mission since the island would recognize any malicious
intent by usage of its "lie detection" technology. The flight 815 crash
occurred with a specially designed aircraft such it would look like an
accident to the island while it would still be controllable such that
our special people would survive.

Wow. Ya know, hg, I think that would make a really great show,
for a couple of seasons at least. I'm not saying that I think that that's
what's going on here, (I personally favor a Dr. Moreau-type scenario),
just that that would make for some very entertaining TV.
I also enjoyed the way you combined a greatly varied mass of theories
and melded them into a single coherent thesis. Nicely done. We could use
someone with your skills in the basement.

Hi, all...
long time lurker, first time poster...hg, are you saying "government"
had AI technology in WW2? Or should we believe that Adam and Eve's first
Island visit in fifties could have something to do with the UFO sightings,
area 51 and all that? I've read this board a lot, but I havent seen anyone
who quite connected alien activities in 50's and 60's with A&E and
the smugglers plane (crashed in 60's, right?)

PS. Without dating myself, I can tell you from experience, this stuff was around a lot earlier than they are admitting to. Yea, I'm a senior citizen.

i'm fairly new myself, but anyway....
my grandfather used to tell me little things about his job in florida.
he was always saying these amazing things and showing me his new gadgets
and handguns he would fire on his property. I later found out that he
worked for Bell Labratories that is supposedly underground in florida.
some of his stories i still can't prove, but 19 years ago i clearly remember
seeing him shooting a desert eagle automatic handgun and saying how it
was to be the new military pistol. i never saw that handgun in existence
until the first gulf war.
.....so the point i wish to make is that according to my grandfather,
the government has labs testing things for 20 years before it's made public
for mass use......if that island is a government testing lab it could
have far greater technology that we won't see for another 20 years......i
like this theory.

Jekelish - thanx. Didn't want to jump in and start talking immediately.
Took some time to get myself used to this (and English isn't my first
language, as you undoubtedly have guessed ).
hg, didn't check out that link, (www.ai.sri.com/timeline/). I'll
get right on it... I wasn't gonna make fun of your beliefs in the first
place Believe it or not, I have a friend who works for the government
(and is i Brisel, EU, now, moved from Serbia on to a diplomatic mission).
The guy speaks 5 languages, has two college diplomas (history and economy)
he's very intelligent, and often lunches with Havier Solana (Important
European Politician, doesn't really matter if you haven't heard of him).
I'm telling you this because he (my friend) has quite big collection of
tapes, CD's and other info with proofs of alien existence here on Earth.
And I'm not talking about "proofs" that anyone can get to. It
took me some time (years of convincing him) to make him show some things
to me. It quite changed my POV on some things in life, but knowing all
that, knowing that at least some of it has 101% possibility of being the
utter truth, doesn't make it any better or simpler. As the matter of fact,
I even try to forget what I saw (too much for the puny minds of ours)
or try to pretend I believe it's all bunch of brainwashing bs.
Having that said - I guess I'm gonna watch 20th episode right now I'm
in the mood.
