The Island:

The Artificial Island

The Island is a big ship

Sorry if this is a repost.

I think the whole bottom of the island is a giant ship underwater. The hatch is just a way to get in.

The military from some country (USA) made the giant ship as a weapon. It is huge with a fake island on top complete with sand, trees, and animals. This would be the ultimate camouflage. It could be out in the open and still not seen. I think it contains nuke missiles and was part of the cold war defense. The island would run on nuclear power just like a sub. That would explain why it still has power. It also would have things in place to hide it. The radio signal does not get out because it is being scrambled or buffered. Also the island could have defense mechanism in place and that brought down the plane because the islands defense thought it was hostile.

The island was top secret so only a few knew about it. Something went wrong and most of the people on the ship island were killed and then the island was forgotten.

Whatever caused the people to be killed was an explosion or something and it left the island working but not in the way it should. It can move so it goes different places. The monster sounded mechanical so it is some type of maintenance machine that went haywire and started killing or perhaps it is some type of defense in case the island was attacked by ground troops.

Now I think since the island is a nuke missile island it is either about to destroy the world by launching missile or already has done it.

Re: The Island is a big ship

First of all, and I might be wrong, but a giant ship that looks like an island would not look like an island on radar, would it?

Also if the island was floating, why would the cable come from the ocean onto the surface of the island and then go into it rather than attach to the "ship" somewhere underwater?

That is why it cannot be found. It has something that blocks radar making it stealth.

The cable runs from the side of the ship up and back into it. We only see it go into the water and not where it goes from there.

SEE????? THIS IS MY THOUGHT!!

Well...I think the Nautilus is under the water nearby. But I get shot down each time I say it.

The others are people left over who got exposed to radiation and got the sickness.

Your theory is pretty good. I agree that the monster may be mechanical. However, your theory does not account for the supernatural phenomena in the story.

Also the husband that heard the numbers and the crazy guy were really on the island when they heard the numbers. They were military. The guy did not tell his wife because it is secret. Things that happened on the island and the numbers drove the other guy crazy.

Re: The Island is a big ship

Hello!
New here,

and after the "Numbers" episode, it really does explain the hatch discovery.

The island might not be entirely a ship. I think that someone or group found the ship buried under the island. That would explain the radio tower repeating the numbers over and over. However bagan the installation on the island, did so to explore the buried ship. After awhile, the original team began to get "taken" by the whispering voices, which I think are coming from inside the ship.

Something is inside the ship and wants out. Since there is more than one hatch, it is either a huge underground facility or a giant space ship.

Whatever is inside has the capability to control minds to some extent. So the original "finders" of the ship/facility slowly went mad from the Whispering Voices, and before they either killed each other from the madness, or got killed by the animals on the island, someone was able to record a message of the killer numbers before dying, in an attempt to free whatever is inside.

Whatever is inside can not unlock the hatch/door and get out because they need the key. It can not be an "Alien" space ship, however, because the numbers are aribic numerals and not some alien script of some kind. So maybe the original makers of the underground facility were experimenting with different life-forms, and created a super-person in touch with the dark side that can read minds. And in an attempt to cantain him/her, since they maybe could not kill him/her, they locked It inside the Facility. Whatever is inside probably knows what the numbers are, but needs someone on the outside to help in the "unlocking" of a hatch. So there is probably a external control panel located somewhere. In the meantime, the It inside is sending out the numbers over the radio waves, and controling certain events to lure someone to the island to complete the unlocking.

My final ramble of a guess is this:

This "It" locked inside is a demon/Satan/something Biblically Bad. Remeber the fortune-teller that Claire visited? He said that if anyone BUT Claire raised her baby, it would be BAD. So the evil thing locked inside the facility will try and "take" claire's baby and turn it into the Anti-Christ. Ethan (who I think was the French-Women's son, she did not have the heart to kill him) was fully under the control of the evil thing in the facility, and was taking Claire to get the baby and turn it over to the "It". My guess is that certain people are less susceptible to the mind-control of the Evil-One, so most certainally, it will begin to take over some of our favorite cast-aways and turn them evil. What about Locke? He was healed right after he touched the ground on the island. He was not attacked by the "monster". And he said "their" number-one priority is getting the hatch open. I think he is the next Ethan. He is very clever,, as Ethan was at staying under the radar of the others. And the Evil-One needs someone loke that on the outside to do it's bidding.

So after all my rambling, this is what I now think it is:

1: The "ship" is not a ship, it is an under-ground experimental facility. An alien ship would not have arabic numbers imbedded in the steel.

2: Some living thing that is capable of mind control was either found or made in the facility, which brought about the demise of the original facility builders.

3: It wants Claire's baby, and is working it's evil throught the thoughts of many to this one end of taking over Claire's baby, who in turn will become the Anti-Christ .

4: The numbers act as a reciever of a sort. After a victim has gotten the numbers in their head, and uses/shares them, the Evil One then has a pin-point on that person and their toughts, and can go to work. But it does not work on everyone.
Sorry, just found this site and wanted to share my thoughts. I'm sure others here have already come to this conclusions, or maybe the "numbers" are in my head, and I am going mad from them!

Well, what with the mountains, streams, pools and what-not -- it sure looks like an island to me.
