Ok now this is just a theory hints why i put it here. I really didn't look if anyone has mentioned this or what, but i think the island is somewhere on the International Date Line. I mean i kinda makes since in a LOST sort of way. They're in the middle of the South Pacific. And it's presence right on the line maybe a weird thing to do with all the weird stuff that goes on.. I know it may not seem logical to some, but neither is polar bears on a tropical island. I think it makes some sense in a J.J. Abrams scary island with crazy people and polar bears sorta way.

Well, no one is really 100% sure. I think the island is close to the date line if not actually on it. I've been working the info and trying to make a best guess. You can see what I came up with here. It's all I've got for now.

No, this is spoiler text I reckon. Am I the first one to figure this out? If so, I rule. If not, I still rule, just to one miniscule degree of geekiness less.Yeah, I'd give Craphole Island about a 50/50 chance of being on the Date Line. I'm not sure what significance, if any, that will have.
Also, I give Evangeline Lily a 100% chance of being on the date line.
