Full fathom five thy father lies;
Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange.

Philadelphia Experiment Island

Here'a a new theory (take on pinnerman's)

Here's a new theory have fun with it! Ok this is a take on pinnerman's Philadelphia experiment theory. And it does incorporate some wild theories and is heavy on the sci-fi. But with a TV show anything is possible. While re-reading the post a certain fact stuck out in my head that I had seen elsewhere: The date August 12, 1943! Why is this important? The Montauk Project supposedly linked up with the Philadelphia experiment on August 12, 1983. Again why is this important? This is where the wild theories start. Earth's background base frequency, or "heartbeat," (called Schumann resonance, or SR) is rising dramatically. Though it varies among geographical regions, for decades the overall measurement was 7.8 cycles per second. This was once thought to be a constant; global military communications developed on this frequency.(ELF for communicating with submarines) Recent reports set the rate at over 11 cycles, and climbing. At the same time the magnetic field strength, is declining and has lost up to half its intensity in the last 4,000 year. When the Earth stops its rotation and the resonance frequency reaches 13 cycles we will be at a zero point magnetic field. The Earth will be stopped, and in 2 or 3 days it will start turning again in the opposite direction. This will produce a reversal in the magnetic fields around the earth and so forth. (this phenomenon has been proven by looking at the crust on the ocean floor). When might this happen? It could possibly synchronize with the Earth's four cycle biorhythm that occurs every 20 years on the 12th of August. The last occurrence was August 12th 2003! OK so the reversal didn't happen on earth as we know, but in the reality world of lost could this be the premises as to why the plane crashed? We know the pilot said "Six hours in, our radio went out. No one could see us.Ó So what if the reversal of the magnetic field caused the malfunctions? Would he be too hard to place Lost in august 2003 instead of august 2004? As I posted before when Jack goes to the hotel there is a USA Today on the table with a headline about an arrest hurting terrorist activities, on August 9, 2003 Iraqi Minister of Interior was captured. On August 12th a british arms dealer was arrested for trying to sell a shoulder launched missle to terrorists. So could Danielle have been there for at least 20 yrs instead of 16yrs? All we know is that the loop has been playing for 16 years and that she comments Òhas it been that long?Ó So is it possible she could have came in August of 1983? The same time as the Montauk expirement? Ok some more thougths about the zero point from other authors about what might happen. ÒThe Zero Point flip will probably introduce us to the 4th dimension. Here, everything we think or desire will instantly manifest. This includes love and fear. Our INTENTION will be of utmost importance.Ó Sounds like what some people have theorized on this board. ÒOur physical body is changing as we approach Zero Point. Our DNA is being "upgraded" to 12 strand. A new light body is being created. We are becoming more intuitive.Ó Is this why Locke can walk, why Shannon's asthma is getting better? OK so if you don't buy the zero flip here are some more thoughts about the Montauk experiment. Allegedly, the technology used was in some respects a continuation of the Philadelphia Experiment of 1943: they subjected human subjects to a complex interacting mixture of pulsing radar energy and rotating magnetic fields; this supposedly allowed them to alter moods, amplify and transmit "thought- forms", materialize thoughts into physical things, alter the weather, and even travel through time! Again does this not sound like some of the things happening on the island, moods seem to go back and forth (jin), unexplained rain starting and stopping, time travel (Danielle?) The Montauk Chair, was a chair in which a psychic would sit; this chair was surrounded by magnetic pickup coils which fed into modified radio receivers which could pick up a noise peak from 3 different directional axes (x, y, and z) and glean information from this tri-dimensional signal--- i.e., an electronic "aura" or electromagnetic body-field reader. The signals that were extracted from this 3D pickup arrangement were processed digitally and correlated with thoughts, moods, etc. Later, a digital signal was generated artificially which mimicked the original signals. This signal drove the radar transmitter and radiated "thought forms" outward from the base. With this technology the experimenters were able to affect the moods and thoughts of anyone they selected as a "target". With further refinements and transmitter power increases, the story goes, they were ultimately able to "precipitate matter out of pure thought" by generating an electromagnetic "lattice" or pattern that formed the "ghost" of a material object. Continued pumping of energy into this "space-form" would eventually cause it to "solidify" into a real object. At some point they began getting conscience-qualms and decided to sabotage the operation. The project was finally crashed in 1983 when a psychic purposely visualized a "monster" which then materialized via the Montauk radar transmitter. This monster began wrecking the base, and they found they could not kill the power to the transmitter because Montauk and Philadelphia experiements had become linked to each other through an Earth biorhythm that peaks every 20 years on August 12th. SO IS THIS THE MONSTER ON THE ISLAND? THE REASON IT CAN'T BE KILLED IS THAT THE POWER TO IT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF? DOES SOMEONE HAVE KEYS TO THE CONTROL ROOM? IS THE SICKNESS WHAT YOU GET FROM SITTING IN THE CHAIR? DID DANIELLE KILL EVERYONE IN ATTEMPT TO SHUT DOWN THE PROJECT? COULD LOST TAKE PLACE IN 1983 OR 1963 BECAUSE OUR TRAVELLS LINKED UP WITH AN EXPIREMENT IN 2003? IS THE EXPERIMENT ONGOING WITH SOMEONE MANIPULATING THE EVENTS ON THE ISLAND?

Interesting

Interesting, but the events of Lost are definitely taking place in the present. The USA Today newspaper is from September 2004.

I am also developing my theory losely based on the Philadelphia Experiment premise, but I am waiting one more episode to reveal it.

Also, it would help greatly if you can format your post by adding some paragraphs.

Re: Interesting

Ok, here's something to add to your theory. Scientist now beleive that the Oracle of Delphi's profetic abilities and visions came from gasses that leaked up from fissures under the temple she stayed at. The gasses coming up (hydrocarbon gases like ethylene) caused halucinations.

Winter--I had the same experience when I worked at Taco Bell.

How do you know?

Re: Interesting

That's what I'm asking for, from the screen shot I don't see anything that says 2004. And I can't find a story with the exact wording the same as the headline. So if he has an exact match with a date then when would know.

As theories go...

...this is a great one. One basic problem is the general public could not follow it. There are a couple of thousand members on this board...another couple thousand on the other boards combined. Now then, multiply that number by let's say: 1000. Make it 2K or 5K. That is the TOP number of viewers who could make sense of it.

The remainder would be scratching their heads...and tune back to Survivor.

With or without paragraphs, Elrond, very well presented/thought out.

How I know its current

Actually I made a mistake the USA Today newspaper is from August 2004.

Here is the snapshot of the scene where Jack goes to the Sydney hotel, where you can see the newspaper.

The USA Today headline reads: "Arrests 'disrupt' terrorist plotting"

I googled the headline and found the date when it was published:

www.usatoday.com/usatonline/20040809/6435433s.htm

August 09, 2004

The producers probably just took that days newspaper as a prop when filming and by doing so they either made un unlikely mistake or just inadvertently declared that the shows timeline is simply the default current one.

Or they never dreamed anyone would look. GIVE FOR THE GOLD!!

Re: How I know its current

Thanx. I tried searching USA today.com but I guess my theory skillz are better than my searching skillz. It is still possible for them to have been onthe plane on Aug 12.

USA Today in Australian hotel

Actually it is not posible because this is August 2004, not August 2003.

I have given this a bit more thought. It isn't very likely that a USA today newspaper would be lying about in an hotel room in Australia. More likely the scene was filmed in an hotel in Hawaii and the producers just grabbed a non localized newspaper as prop. This means that the exact date is not important and is irrelevant to the story.

Re: USA Today in Australian hotel

I meant that if the paper is 8/9/2004 could they be on the plane on 8/12/04?

Re: Here's a new theory have fun with it!

Although I agree that it would be difficult to explain this (in an interesting and clear way) to the general Lost-watching public, I must say that this is the first theory that I really, really, REALLY like! *applauds Elrond*

usa today

It isn't very likely that a USA today newspaper would be lying about in an hotel room in Australia.

Why not? When I lived in Europe, the most easily available paper from the US was USA today.

Re: Elrond's Montauk Theory

I agree with

LostIslander

, I REALLY like this theory. All it needs is an alien or two. (I'm fixated on the alien in the comic book ) And while most of US would have a difficult time writing a coherent explanation for the general LOST-watching public, I have no doubt the LOST creative team of writing geniuses can handle it!

Re: Elrond's Montauk Theory

Now that we have seen more possible "psi" powers I think my theory has some merit! (plus or minus an alien or 2!) So what do you guys think about this with in the context of the last show?

Elrond

Re: Elrond's Montauk Theory

Works well with my ID monster theory.

This theory is just plain fun also! There's so much you could do with it...I wouldn't mind it a bit if it's what the writers had in mind.

Re: Here's a new theory have fun with it!

That's a cool theory and all, but if this is case, how would they ever explain this through the characters on the show?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, we do know that it couldn't be 1983 or sooner, because sent out his letter as a small boy in 1976.....
