Look down, you god,
And on this couple drop a blessed crown!
For it is you that have chalk'd forth the way

The Tempest. Act v. Sc. 1
Here's my take on what's goin on on the island and with the characters.
Like some others here, I believe these "passengers" are all
deceased and they are being put through a series of tests before they
become "guardian angels".
For instance, in the "afterlife" they can become what they were
not able to become in real life. They are being given a
second chance to do the right thing or make adjustments that will somehow
affect their future and past.
What do you think?
xxandraxx
Nah, the producers already said that they are most definitely not dead/in
limbo/dreaming etc. It would just be too easy, and has been done to death
already.
jynnantonix
Well they must be aliens then.
I don't understand why a woman of 8 months is flying.
A dog is allowed on board with regular passengers.
Their injuries are not more severe.
They can find their luggage so easily. In real life it takes nothing short
of a miracle for the airline not to lose your luggage.
They could fly so far off ( 1,000 miles) and not be missed by air traffic
control at any given time. Did they fall off the face of the earth into
another planet?
Why the hair of the females are so clean, shiny and bouncy....and they
are fully made-up to be on a deserted island. Can you say "vanity"?
The pregnant woman looks like all her pregnant weight was gained SOLELY
in her abdomen, thus remaining skinny and able to fit into mini-maternity
clothes. Did I mention they don't allow you on planes if your that much
PREGNANT?
Oh...I can go on...
I'm glad the producers/writers aren't going for the "usual"
done to death scenarios..
Fresh ideas are hard to find!
xxandraxx
Nice theory but the writers have already told us there is nothing supernatural
going on in this show. So passengers who have died and have been given
a chance to now become guardian angels sounds to me falls into the "supernatural"
category...Just MHO.
By the way...I see this is your first post. Welcome to the board!!!
You might want to check out other threads that have been posted along
these lines in the general discussion area of the board. .

So you think they never really boarded the plane in the first place?
Because your arguments rule that out.
Many people won't like to see something like the purgatory theory, me
included. I just hope there is some more down-to-earth explanation for
what they are going through.

"I don't understand why a woman of 8 months is flying."
Some airlines allow heavily pregnant women onto planes.
"A dog is allowed on board with regular passengers."
Animals usually travel with the luggage.

"They could fly so far off ( 1,000 miles) and not be missed by air traffic control at any given time. Did they fall off the face of the earth into another planet?"
Most of the Pacific air routes are not monitored by actual radar, as the
airspace is just too darn big.
Instead, they monitor telemetry from the planes themselves. Additionally,
pilots report when they cross specific waypoints (for example: UNITED
XXX, reporting crossing CEDAR at FL330 at mach .78. Estimate CLUTZ at
18:33z).
So if the plane loses communication, they can no longer report their location.
Oceanic Control would see - hey - they haven't reported in when expected
and would try to contact them. The best idea they'd have would be where
they last reported in. They'd know they should be between points 'A' and
'B'.
So - from what the pilot said - they would be in deeep trouble.
Later!

In the tail of all civil airliners is an EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
Its designed to go off on major impact or on contact with water.
Which is probably why they arent allowed to have access to the tail at
this stage of the series.

I've flip-flopped on my theory. I now believe it's CLONES.
See my CLONE thread.
