What is't? a spirit?
Lord, how it looks about! Believe me, sir,
It carries a brave form. But 'tis a spirit.
The Tempest. Act i. Sc. 2
I really enjoy watching this show and I am OK with "It is about journey, not the destination", but something intrigued me about this theory.
If this is a spoiler, I must start to play lottery.
Somebody already mentioned Ubik, so it is old SF theme.
There was comic-book turned into TV-show "Harsh Realm" which
featured Thomas Hobbes (not a philosopher with main baddy though-ass mofo
Omar Santiago, played by Lost's own John Locke (not a philosopher Terry
O'Quinn. Show was about virtual reality game in which main characters
where locked.
In Pilot, jet engines working after the crash and polar bears can be explained
as early glitches in the Matrix , plus, let's play polar bears as subconscious
effect of de-icing maybe real survivors in some kind of re-convalescent
futuristic virtual reality in which they are put, let's say few hundred
years into the future. Hence, the wish-fulfilling island.
Wild guess, as good as any, and I will be perfectly happy with no explanation
at all, or something more mundane. It is a journey, remember
noloping
......none of us would be happy with this outcome. However, VERY good
idea! and Welcome.
